For anyone who loves singing but feels daunted by conventional choirs, pioneering and inclusive choral group Union Point is back for a second season in Manchester.

The contemporary pop choir brings together singers from across the city for sweeping vocal arrangements, live performances, recording projects, music videos and, above all, a weekly excuse to join like-minded music lovers of all abilities and sing in an inclusive environment.

Founded by Adam Critchlow and musical director Douglas Lloyd, Union Point takes the joy of a harmonious choir and infuses it with the energy of a modern music project. Songs from pop, indie, electronic and alternative music are transformed into ambitious vocal arrangements packed with melody, rhythm and bass, creating a unique, all-embracing sound a world away from starchy stereotypes.

There’s no traditional audition, and you don’t need to be a professional singer. Union Point is for experienced vocalists, former choir obsessives, regular performers and anyone looking to rediscover the magic of song. The only criteria for entry is a love of vocal performance and an open mind.

With professional singers, arrangers and musical directors at the helm, Union Point brings the ambition and polish of contemporary vocal music into a group that remains open and welcoming, maintaining a high standard without the off-putting exclusivity.

Rehearsals are focused and energetic – Season One saw the group develop a full set of original arrangements before taking the music beyond the rehearsal room, with professional recording and filming projects culminating in a live show at Hallé St Michael’s. For Season Two, Union Point is expanding its ambitions, with new arrangements, recording projects, music videos and live performances planned throughout the season.

Members become part of a growing Manchester music project, with opportunities to perform, record and create alongside others who share an equal enthusiasm.

Season Two begins at SEESAW in Manchester city centre on Wed 30 Sep at 7.45pm, and the first rehearsal is a completely free taster session. With no commitment attached, prospective members will have a chance to meet the group, learn the arrangements and get a comprehensive taste of what Union Point is all about.

The full season dates are as follows:

September: 30th (Taster Rehearsal)

October: 7th – 14th – 21st – 28th

November: 4th – 11th – 18th – 25th

December: 2nd – 9th – 16th – (Final Show – Friday 18 Dec)
