London’s longest-running adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is heading North to Lowry this festive season.
Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash-hit production has enjoyed nine sell-out years at The Old Vic, having been expertly adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, His Dark Materials).
Taking over Lowry from Fri 11 Dec – Sun 10 Jan, an impressive cast is led by the award-winning John Thomson (Cold Feet, 24 Hour Party People, Hobson’s Choice) as Ebenezer Scrooge.

Speaking about the role, Thomson said: “It’s an absolute honour to have been cast as the legendary character Scrooge, in The Old Vic’s forthcoming production of A Christmas Carol. I’m looking forward to entertaining everyone at the Lowry with my interpretation this coming Christmas.”
Joining John will be Laura Baldwin as Belle, Hayley Canham as Little Fan, Marilyn Cutts as Ghost of Christmas Past, Hadrian Delacey as Father/Marley, Jamie Doncaster as Swing, Peter Dukes as Nicholas/Schoolmaster and Christian Edwards as Bob Cratchit.
Kamilla Fernandes stars as the Ghost of Christmas Present/Mrs Fezziwig, Seb Harwood as Ferdy/George, Emma Lucia as Mrs Cratchit, Rachel Moran as Associate Movement/Offstage cover Mrs Cratchit & Jess, Annell Odartey as Jess, Ben Redfern as Fezziwig, Joe Usher as Fred and Connor Wood as Young Ebenezer. Sharing the role of Tiny Tim are actors Ronan Caldwell, Chloe Gay, Franklin Gimson and Kharia Thompson.
