Some of the UK’s most exciting musicians will gather together at the RNCM in October to celebrate the art of graphic scores; aesthetic visual notations that blur the boundaries between visual, written and musical languages. Made up of Joanna Macgregor (pictured), Tom Arthurs, Oliver Coates, Elaine Mitchener and Isambard Khroustaliov, the supergroup will perform a diverse programme of works by George Crumb, Cathy Berberian, Fred Frith, John Cage, Wadada Leo Smith, Cornelius Cardew, Tom Phillips RA and Jennifer Walshe. Featuring stunning project scores plus graphic and abstract art, as well as a pre-concert talk by Theresa Sauer from the Notations21 project that provided the event’s inspiration (6.30pm, RNCM Lecture Theatre, FREE, no booking required), the evening should be a fascinating blend of music and art.
