Melody Loses her Mojo is a bold, gritty show focusing on the lives of three people who are in the care system or have just left. This story merges hip-hop theatre, dance, puppetry and street art. The production – by the company 20 Stories High – is written and directed by the award-winning Keith Saha and utilising a brilliant artistic team including Sue Buckmaster (Theatre-Rites), Kewsi Johnson (Kompany Malakhi), club artist Mark Wigan (I.D. The Tell-Tale Heart | The Lowry | Thu 3 Oct | 8pm | £12
This production is a brand new adaptation of Edgar Ellen Poe’s mini-masterpiece. The play follows a wealthy recluse and his private nurse who, growing resentful, concocts a plan to dispose of his patient. This gripping tale of murder is performed by one actor, Launcer Saunders, with the sound artist, Iain Armstrong, creating live sound effects and music. The show is produced by Little Earthquake, an independent company that creates events that will ‘surprise, entertain, inspire and intrigue’ audiences.

Directed by David Thacker and starring Jessica Baglow and Kieran Hill, this adaptation of J.B. Priestly’s beloved classic follows the Birling family as they toast the engagement of their daughter when suddenly Inspector Goole arrives to call investigate the tragic death of a young woman. This month-long run at the Bolton Octagon ends this weekend – catch it before it does.

Would Be Nice Though… | The Lowry | Fri 4 & Sat 5 Oct | Fri 8pm, Sat 12pm, 5pm, 7pm | £12
This site-specific performance immerses audiences in that all-too-well-known tense atmosphere of a waiting room. The production invites the spectators to be one of the candidates awaiting a job interview. Through a series of comical acts, it will help the audience to not see job rejection in the same light again. Written and produced by Holly Bodmer and Dot Howard, together they make up Odd Comic, the production team behind this surreal performance. Would Be Nice Though… previously featured at the Edinburgh Fringe.

51 Shades of Maggie is the best-selling spoof of a certain hit books. This perfect girly night out follows Maggie, a working class girl who is desperate to find love but has been let down by every man in her life. She then meets Mr Big, the man of her dreams, with a secret and a ‘Private Room of Pain’. Starring Adele Silva and written by Leesa Harker, join Maggie as she ventures through this journey with the odd whip here and there.
