A Clockwork Orange at The Lowry

An all-male performance of A Clockwork Orange will arrive at The Lowry later this month. The spirit of Manchester-born Anthony Burgess’ infamous literary masterpiece is captured and transcended in this new adaption by Action To The Word, which follows Alex and his Droogs in their battle against the boredom of adolescence. The company – known for producing both new musicals and adaptations of classics – aim to lure audiences into the glorious glass-edged nastiness through the electrifying and testosterone-filled physical theatre. A Clockwork Orange is led by the company’s director Alexandra Spencer-Jones and is co-produced by the international producers of Stomp, Glynis Henderson Productions. The storyline remains as terrifying now as when it was first released as a novel in 1962, and this live outing could cause a stir similar to that produced by Stanley Kubrick’s film adaptation in 1971. Following this UK run, the production team will head to Japan.
