Leeds-based Paper Tiger have had a productive couple of years, focusing on recording rather than live performances – they’ve released a series of EPs and singles (the last of which, ‘The Sting’, featured Stones Throw’s Homeboy Sandman – see below) on a series of homes, including homegrown Manc label Mind On Fire. The full length, ‘Laptop Suntan’, is finally ready to go on the ever reliable Wah Wah 45s. To celebrate, the full live band version of Paper Tiger is hitting the road, embodying that unclassifiable melange of hip hop and electronic sounds that has shared a stage with the likes of Rustie, Gaslamp Killer, Daedelus, Amon Tobin and Alice Russell. They’re hitting up the Roadhouse pre-So Flute (who are kindly offering half price entry to Paper Tiger goers) and I’ll be warming up, so make sure you get down early…
Fri 8 Nov, The Roadhouse, 8 Newton St, M1 2AN. Tel: 0161 237 9789, 8pm, £5, www.theroadhouselive.co.uk
