Contact theatre hosts Mother’s Ruin, an extraordinary cabaret spectacular where underground art meets ‘end-of-pier’ entertainment, this December. The night will feature performance, poetry, music, comedy, storytelling and the unpredictable with acts including the legend Gerry Potter-Poet, divas-with-depth the Eggs Collective, Manchester swing trio The Bobbysocks, comic Jackie Hagan and Dick & Debs (pictured), ‘the greatest TV presenters ever unknown’, plus  eco-warrior extraordinaire Timberlina. The evening will be hosted by Mrs Jon-Jo and Jana Kennedy – also known  as Tall and Earnest – with the towering Sheela Blige on the weave bar and tombola. With the bar staying open until midnight it is no surprise that last time the event was ‘rammed to the rafters’ – and therefore booking is essential. The evening is programmed by Cake Tin Foundation, a  charity that aims to promote excellent entertainment platforms outside of London, and Rude Grrl, an alternative performance production company based in London.
