Sounds From The Other City 2014: first acts announced

Sounds From The Other City is announcing its 10th birthday line-up this week, and it’s shaping up to be one hell of a party – again. The annual one-day spectacular has become the place to catch some of the most promising new talent on the rise as acts descend upon the weird and wonderful venues of Salford, and this year looks to be no different. From 3pm until late on Sunday 4 May, venues along Chapel Street will pop up and be filled with music and people – with Peel Hall and the iconic performance space of Maxwell Hall joining SFTOC regulars St Philips Church, The Crescent and Islington Mill, among others. Acts announced so far include Rosie Lowe and Avec Sands, both playing a Tru Luv-curated Angel Centre, while Islington Mill will be taken over by Dub Smugglers, Mind on Fire and El Diablo’s Social Club to bring us the likes of Werkha, Plank!, Raikes Parade, Pete Herbert and 2 Billion Beats. Hey! Manchester curates a brand new venue for Sounds – First Chop Brewing Arm – which will feature Canadian bands Solids and Gay, as well as local mainstays The Travelling Band, who will be performing their own interpretation of Neil Young’s seminal album On The Beach.
