Good things are pretty nice, but free good things are even better. In keeping with this logic, this week we’ve got a fairly diverse mix to cover your shopping, music and cultured needs to keep you entertained ’til Sunday.

Altrincham Vintage Fashion & Vinage Furniture Market (pictured)
Recently Altrincham Market announced it was going weekly, which is a pretty good indicator of how well it’s doing. As the third Sunday of the month, this week sees the fashion and vintage furniture traders set up their stalls with their preloved fashions, accessories, furniture, crafts and more. As a pretty sweet bonus, Goodwins ’40s and ’60s coaches are also running a free pick-up and drop-off service around Hale, Altrincham and Bowdon, leaving on the hour from 10am.
Sun 16 Feb, Market Street, Altrincham, WA14 1SA, 11am – 4pm, FREE entry, www.facebook.com

Acoustic Bhuna at Band on the Wall
Band on the Wall’s Acoustic Bhuna has made its way onto our weekend freebie roundup before, and that’s because it doesn’t get any better than an evening of mellow, local acoustic music that you haven’t had to pay a penny for. This week you can cosy up in the Picturehouse Cafe-Bar and enjoy some live music from Jamie Brewer, who can single-handedly silence an entire room with his skilled acoustic guitar work. Also up are female folk duo Taylor And The Mason and Manchester band Glass Tides.
Sun 16 Feb, Band On The Wall, 25 Swan Street, M4 5JZ, Starts 6pm, FREE, www.bandonthewall.org

University of Salford’s Serendipity exhibition
This weekend sees your last chance to catch the new exhibition from University of Salford’s visual arts programme. The show explores the theme of serendipity, combining a range of mediums to express the diversity of its practices and incorporating elements of psychology, politics and history. The exhibition also creates a perfect opportunity to go and check out Manchester’s new art space, Federation House.
