Optic Film’s Godzilla Double Bill smashes into St Michael’s Church

As the all-new Godzilla begins its stomp towards cinema with a bizarre mix of blockbuster and art-house spectacle, there will be a celebration of the films that started it all just an atomic monster’s step away from your multiplex in Ancoats at the recently renovated St Michael’s church. Optic Film shows the films you’d always wanted to watch on a big screen but had no idea their beauteous sort even existed. For this double creature feature there’s a monster mash-up pairing of Godzilla vs Destroyah, and Destroy All Monsters from the Shōwa era (1954 to 1970s) and another from the sometimes underrated/under seen Heisei era (late 1980s to 1990s). The latter is described as the height of Godzilla’s men in rubber suits battling it out. And isn’t that what we’re all looking for in a night at the movies?
