With an alumni including the cream of the now-booming Australian psychedelic scene, Pond’s current line-up take to Manchester Academy this June on the back of last year’s acclaimed album Hobo Rocket. The band, which was sometimes seen to be acting as something of an experimental playground for the ever-impressive Tame Impala, seems to be finally developing an identity of its own. Songs such as O Dharma, below, show Pond are adept at softer moments, which break up their five albums of explosive acid-soaked rock that they’re often more associated with. This small UK tour could also offer the chance to see the Perth outfit debut new material from their soon-to-be-released album Man, It Feels Like Space Again – so this seems like the perfect gig to take a trip into a thrilling alternative galaxy, which is always fun on a Monday evening.
