Miles Jupp Is the Chap You’re Thinking Of couldn’t be a more appropriate title for this stand-up show. Jupp is very much the ‘chap’, being the public school-educated son of a church minister. He’s also a familiar, but not exactly famous, performer. As an actor, he has appeared in shows including The Thick of It, Spy, and Rev. However, parents might know him best as Archie the inventor in Balamory. Jupp has been performing stand-up comedy for 15 years, to high acclaim. It’s difficult to know where his personality ends and his stage persona begins, but with his detached manner, Jupp comes across as a ‘young fogey’ who is befuddled by the modern world. You would never guess that he’s good friends with Frankie Boyle, would you?
