Turtle Bay, a new Caribbean-themed restaurant and bar on Oxford Street, opens its doors this Friday (30 May). The 250-cover restaurant will offer 50 authentic dishes including signature dishes Jerk Pit ribs, Turtle Bay Patties, Trini Doubles and Blue Mountain Curry Goat. The venture incorporates a large ‘island’ cocktail bar, which stocks 30 brands of rum, and indoor veranda-style drinking spaces. Specialist drinks will include rum punch and the Marley Mojito – incorporating ginger beer and watermelon. The venue aims to capture the Caribbean ethos of ‘Liming’, which is a relaxed atmosphere of dining, drinking and socialising. Turtle Bay is an established brand, with seven other branches, including in Bristol, Nottingham, and that well-known hotbed of Jamaican culture, Leamington Spa. The Manchester opening replaces Alibi bar on Oxford Street. It’s next door to a Wetherspoons – but try not to let that put you off.
