David Grubbs solo performance + reading at Kraak

David Grubbs is a Louisville legend. And not just for his extensive musical legacy, although that’s as impressive as the label suggests. A founding member of Gastr del Sol, Squirrel Bait and Bastro, his list of collaborators include Will Oldham and Dirty Three. He’s scored the film, Les Invisibles, and has had art installations shown around the world. Add to this his Professorship in the Conservatory of Music, New York, writing the quasi-academic book, Records Ruin the Landscape, which explores and compares attitudes to recording music by experimental artists in the 1960s with today’s compulsive streaming of content (see Pitchfork review), and running his own record label, Blue Chopsticks. His latest collaboration, Dust & Mirrors, combines hypnotic minimalist instrumentals with sung-spoken poetry. In support of this recent work, Grubbs is coming to Manchester with a solo performance and a reading from Records Ruin the Landscape.
