Following a sell-out run at the Royal Court, this special Samuel Beckett recital is coming to The Lowry in September. Lisa Dwan (pictured) will perform a one-woman show featuring three of the playwright’s finest monologues. Not I is one of Beckett’s most (in)famous plays, and takes place on a darkened stage with only the actress’ mouth illuminated as she delivers an intense soliloquy. Also performed will be the less well-known works: Footfalls and Rockaby. Each monologue is 15 to 20 minutes long, with a few minutes of complete darkness in between. Because of the darkness and the powerful subject matter, this show is not for the faint of heart. We have two tickets for the three-part show up for grabs. To be in with a chance of winning, send an email to competitions at manchesterwire dot co dot uk with ‘Beckett competition’ in the subject line.
