A very special classical music recital is taking place at Manchester Cathedral this September. The London Concertante chamber ensemble will present Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music) by candlelight. The concert begins with two Mozart pieces – Divertimento in D and Piano Concerto in A – followed by Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 2 and Brahms’ Rondo alla Zingarese. For the concert’s finale, it’s back to Mozart and the eponymous piece. These popular and accessible works can be enjoyed by all – including newcomers to classical. The London Concertante regularly perform a similar show at London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields. This much-sought-after group tour extensively and have released several CDs.
