The non-Mancunian, non-orchestral band Manchester Orchestra, are performing at The Ritz in October. The Athens-based indie rockers are touring in support of ‘Cope’, their critically-acclaimed album released earlier this year. Support comes from Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band. Also in support is Bad Books which is composed of (and this is where it gets confusing) Kevin Devine and several members of the Manchester Orchestra. I guess they want to keep a high a percentage of “the door” as possible. The band chose to use ‘Manchester’ in their name because they’re huge fans of the city’s musical progeny, such as The Smiths and The Stone Roses. So, while this gig is not a homecoming, it might prove to be something special. Don’t let the band think less of the city by having them play to an empty house.
