Following its grand reopening last year, the Eagle Inn in Salford has fast become a staple of the live music scene – not just in the second city, but in Greater Manchester at large, with its reputation cemented by a good line in an alternative nights. This Friday is no exception to that rule, as it hosts John Doran, the respected editor of The Quietus and occasional contributor to Vice, whose first book, Jolly Lad, comes out next month. John will be reading from the book and – spoken word traditionally being considered too rich for the blood of the Friday-night crowd – will be doing so with musical accompaniment, ably provided by Bristolians H.U.M. and Salfordian outfit Gnod. Disc jockeying duties for the evening will be fulfilled by Mai Mai Mai and Simon Wildrfid. The evening is hosted by rowdy collectivist promoters Fat Out Til You Pass Out.
