Free things to do in Manchester this week ft Blade Runner and Maeve Rendle

Valentine’s is nearly here and the outpouring of emotion is usually accompanied by one other thing – the outpouring of cash. It’s relieving to know that there’s always free options out there, for those of you wanting to keep your wallet fat for your beloved.

Blade Runner Night at 3MT
Ridley Scott’s neon-flecked dystopian noir was panned on its original release but went on to define the visual language of science fiction films for the next three decades. Affleck’s micro-theatre presents an evening of work influenced by the film performed by poets, comedians and writers. Entry is free, but there’s an option for donations – but definitely worth it for the opportunity see artists revisit and reinterpret this classic in the unique, intimate surroundings of 3MT.

How To Run a Club Night Q&A at TwentyTwentyTwo
The Northern Quarter ping-pong palace is running a series of  how to nights in conjunction with ticketing service Eventbrite, starting with this, focussing on the running and promotion of club nights. Speakers include representatives from Groovement, So Flute, Juicy Club and the Albert Hall who’ve run nights with some huge names including Snoop Dogg, Annie Mac and Wu Tang. Reserving your place online is required, but otherwise this won’t cost you a penny. Don’t worry if this masterclass is fully booked – you can register to attend the next event, all about music event marketing on a shoestring budget, on Wednesday 11 March, 6pm, here.
