Vessels at Soup Kitchen

Leeds five-piece Vessels have released several albums – but what you knew of them before couldn’t be further away from what you’ll hear now. Their previous works lend the slow build-ups and swooping guitar crescendos of your standard post-rock band, but now their productions use less instruments and more electronics. Last year’s Elliptic (below) is a gentle yet epic song, combining highly danceable beats with sporadic and soft, rhythmic textures able of enveloping the listener. The EP on which it was released was met with delighted surprise; this new swerve in direction has resulted in bookings on more techno-flavoured festivals such as Tauron in Poland and East London’s Convergence – and is somewhat an unofficial welcoming to their newly developed brand of music-making (specifically, electronic music with live drumming – this is not a common enough occurence).
