Byron opens its new restaurant on Piccadilly Gardens this week – and is celebrating with a night of patty melts. Entitled Patty Meltdown, the event will offer ticket-buyers a classic patty melt (pictured) – a loosely-ground, griddle-grilled beef patty topped with slow-cooked red onions and Swiss cheese, served between two slices of buttered rye bread with caraway seeds. It will be accompanied by a pot of Russian dressing and sweet potato fries, as well as spiced popcorn to start, and a sticky toffee rum hard shake to finish. The patty melt reportedly originated from 1940s or 1950s, at a chain of Californian coffee shops called Tiny Naylor’s. Both Byron’s new Piccadilly Gardens outlet and its Deansgate branch, which opened in 2013, will host Patty Meltdown nights this month – with advanced booking of tickets recommended. Patty Meltdown is part of Byron’s regular Burger Club, which offers priority booking for future events. We’ve teamed up with Byron to offer a pair of tickets to each of the two Patty Meltdowns. To be in with a chance of winning, send the answer to the question below – along with your name, age, Twitter handle and preferred date (if you have one – see options below) – in an email with the subject line ‘Byron competition’ to competitions at manchesterwire dot co dot uk.
