Sandbar birthday beer festival
Can you believe Sandbar turns 19 this week?! To celebrate keeping the Oxford Road Corridor ticking over with fine beers for nearly two decades, it is holding a weekend-long shindig with specially selected springtime brews, live bands and birthday cake.

Aiden Byrne joins Altrincham food fest
Manchester House head chef Aiden Byrne is teaming up with traders from Altrincham Market to create a special six-course tasting experience as part of a new food and drink festival in the town. Nobody knows what’s on the menu yet and it’s going to be kept under wraps until the event on Sunday 29 March. What we do know is that it ‘will be a coming together of the excellence that Aiden pursues in his career and the informality and family nature of Market House’. Sounds good. Parisian pop-up supper club with Lazy Susan
Supperclubs are all the rage at the moment and are getting more and more creative with each passing week. Take Lazy Susan, for example – a chef duo bringing immersive food and drink adventures to the city. Their inaugural dining experience sees them take over Elixir for three nights with a five-course menu inspired by Parisian absinthe bars. Expect to be wined and dined like bohemians and bourgeoisie while wearing your finest clobber.

Manchester gets cereal cafe Black Milk Cereal Bar
Everyone went hoo-ha in December when two blokes in London launched a cafe dedicated to breakfast cereal, but it seems the idea’s caught on as there’s now one in Manchester too. Black Milk Cereal, on the second floor of Afflecks, has around 50 different cereals, many which are well-known brands and some from independent retailers too. It isn’t just straight up cereal though. The team behind the venture aim to be experimental, starting with their signature black milk coloured with squid ink.
