Grimm Up North presents: Lord of the Rings Extended Edition marathon

Grimm Up North is a group of film fanatics that presents regular screenings of horror, cult and fantasy films. May’s event, taking place Z-Film Studios in East Didsbury, is set to be epic. They have arranged a screening of all three Lord of the Rings films and because the original versions just aren’t long enough for die-hards, they will be playing the extended editions. That’s over 11 hours of entertainment, during which you can watch the whole journey from The Shire to Mordor and back in painstaking detail. By the end, you’ll most likely be driven mad like Gollum and crawling home wearing nothing but a makeshift loin cloth. If this event’s successful though, let’s hope the organisers don’t repeat it with The Hobbit films.
