If you’re blue over the departure of MIF, then don’t worry your sweet cultured face, because this week yields plenty of arty farty fun that will raise your spirits without draining your current account. Here’s this week’s round up of free stuff:

Tony Husband Exhibitions at Font and Albert Square
The Greater Manchester Fringe draws to a close this week, so there’s just one last opportunity to catch these exhibitions before they close on Friday. Cartoonist Tony Husband’s work is well known – adorning a thousand greeting card designs, as well as gracing the pages of Private Eye. He’s got two exhibitions on as part of the Fringe; one at Font Bar in Chorlton, which is showing a selection of his cartoons from PE and the other is at Albert Square Chop House and shows his collaborations with mosaicist Amanda McCrann.
ends Fri 31 Jul, Font Bar, 115-117 Manchester Road, Chorlton, M21 9PG, www.greatermanchesterfringe.co.uk
Albert Square Chop House, 14 Albert Square, M2 5PF, www.greatermanchesterfringe.co.uk

ExtraORDINARY at the Lowry (pictured)
This new exhibition at the Lowry uses everyday objects to fashion unique artistic pieces. From photography to sculpture, all disciplines are covered presenting the work from a selection of different artists including American postmodern artist Bruce Nauman and card-carrying YBA Gavin Turk. It’s the ordinary viewed through a playful kaleidoscope, finding new and interesting places for the wallpaper of our lives. It’s a show for anyone who’s ever stuck Monster Munch on their fingers and pretended it was jewellery.
Sat 25 Jul – Sun 18 Oct, The Lowry, Pier 8, Salford Quays M50 3AZ, www.thelowry.com

David Stanier’s Silly Party at Kings Arms
The people’s fool David Stanier has been bringing his daft gatherings to the Kings for about a year now, and he’s capping it off with a free show as part of the Greater Manchester Fringe. It’s a comedy gig filled with sweets, party games and daft jokes reeled off a clipboard; a dumb, life-affirming hour from one of Manchester’s rising comedy stars. Precise details one other acts performing are sketchy at the moment, but based on past shows, we’d bet there’ll be an appearance from the gravel-voiced prince of Droylsden Danny Sutcliffe.
