Our food news this week includes a new Spinningfields opening, Rust + Stone, plus Gaucho’s all you can eat (and drink) brunch party, Burger & Lobster and the new Infamous Diner, from the group behind The Fitzgerald and Hula Bar.

1. Rust + Stone wholefood cafe-bar for Spinningfields
The career of ex-Hilton chef David Gale is set to change direction with the opening of a new whole and raw food cafe-bar in the former Long Bar unit in Spinningfields. Open from morning until late, the menu that Gale has designed for the new operation includes healthy and wholesome dishes and drinks from breakfasts to salads, soups and juices, with plenty of open-air seating. There are even yoga classes promised for the new open-air venue. Evening menus are set to include organic wines, cocktails and sharing plates.
From August, Rust + Stone, Hardman Square, Spinningfields, M3 3EB. Tel: 0161 914 7830, @rustandstone

2. Gaucho’s Electro Brunch ft all you can eat food and booze
Enjoy the latest club tunes at Manchester’s upmarket Argentinian steak house, as you tuck into a new all you can eat (and drink) brunch menu. Dishes to make your weekend include eggs Benedict, churrasco de cuadril steak and fried egg, chivito sandwich served with lomito picante, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and banana pancakes with dulce de leche (yes please). The drinks menu includes juices made to order, a particularly special Stolichnaya Gold Vodka Bloody Mary, sparking Domaine Chandon and breakfast cocktails. No mention of tea and coffee though. Black Dog’s outlets in the Northern Quarter and Oxford Road areas have just started a £14 Sunday brunch deal from noon until 4pm too. This offer includes unlimited teas, coffees, soft drinks, Mimosas (OJ and prosecco) and Bloody Marys. Finally, a weatherproof solution to what to do with your Sunday.
Gaucho’s Electro Brunch, every Sunday, 2A St Mary’s Street, M3 2LB. Tel: 0161 833 4333, 11am to 2pm, £45 per person, www.gauchorestaurants.co.uk

3. New openings for Burger & Lobster and Infamous Diner
The Manchester branch of the much anticipated Burger & Lobster chain (selling… you guessed it) is opening on King Street on Friday 7 August – joining outlets in London and New York. Burgers are made from prime, marbled beef – and they serve lobsters too. We’ve not been yet, but apparently there is no menu, just very friendly staff. Watch this space for more details. Meanwhile, back in the Northern Quarter, this week also sees the opening of Infamous Diner. This US-style operation is the latest restaurant from the ‘MAD’ group (Hula Bar, Rosylee, The Fitzgerald) and it’s taken over a spacious unit on Shudehill. The menu includes stuff you’d expect to find in a proper diner such as burgers, hot dogs, pancakes, fries, breakfasts (pictured) and shakes.
Burger and Lobster, Ship Canal House, King Street, M2 4WU. Tel: 0161 832 0222, www.burgerandlobster.com
Infamous Diner, 3-5 Basil Chambers, Nicolas Croft, Northern Quarter, M1 1FS. Tel: 0161 819 1798, www.infamousdiner.co.uk
