Edinburgh Fringe-conquering new play, Raymondo, is simply told by writer, performer and musician, Annie Siddons using a microphone and a live score of guitars, loops and keyboard. The narrative revolves around the titular character, Raymondo, who has been locked in a cellar for a long time with his brother Sparky, and its all about their escape, and seeing the world anew – while carrying a bit of emotional baggage. Siddons has worked with critically acclaimed companies including Kneehigh, The Unicorn Theatre and The Gate, however this is the first show that she has written and performed herself and her success at the Edinburgh Fringe indicates that she’s a star on the rise. Joining Siddons on stage is guitarist Tom Adams playing a score composed by producer and multi-instrumentalist Marcus Hamblett who has worked with Laura Marling and Willy Mason. The play is directed by Leverhulme Award Winner Justin Audibert whose previous productions include Beached, Wingman, Gruesome Playground Injuries. A hot ticket indeed.
