Mariel Osborn’s practice is based upon making props and accessories for both commercial and editorial projects. Using her past experience as a performance artist, costume designer, and embroiderer, she now creates her own sets in which the advertised objects become her material, creating a playful stage for contemporary visual communication. For What’s That exhibition, Osborn will be displaying her own ‘still life’ projects which incorporate contrasting textures, colours, and materials. This will be the first in an ongoing series of events and exhibitions held at Manchester Custom Framing Shop, situated in Islington Mill. Refreshments provided by the excellent Cloudwater Brew Co. Osborn is also part of the performance art group, The Volkov Commanders.
From Thu Dec 3, Manchester Custom Framing Shop, Studio 211, Islington Mill, James Street, Salford, M35HW, FREE, opening 7pm onwards, www.facebook.com
