The significant influx of festivals in recent years has been gladly received, but with this choice comes the challenge of filtering to find a unique experience. Twelve years old and the model of good health, SFTOC festival has developed a reputation for showcasing new artists and performances that bring together independent promoters, collectives and club nights in unusual and undiscovered spaces (think church, phone box, converted cotton mill) for a generous dose of debauchery. Last year saw new commissions including Ex Easter Island Head partnering with BBC Philharmonic to present a new composition and new stages that utilising defunct railway arches. Alumni include Alt-J, Lapalux, and Stealing Sheep illustrating the festival’s foresight for talent. While this year’s line up is still TBC (watch this space) the afterparty is something to behold too. A day and night in one, curated artistically, and for a bargain price of £20.
