Sidekick ft. Graham Goring & Sean Morley | Via | Mon 25 Jan | 7.30pm | £2
The first sidekick of the year and it’s a doozie with gag a minute Graham Goring and Sean Morley, who is just a week away from releasing an ambition pilot TV show for Sheffield cable access television. Morley is one of the freshest act the circuit has seen for a long time and with no two sets ever being the same he is well worth checking out. Host Kate McCabe also introduces support from Madie Howard and Sam Whyte with a featured quiz called ‘Be My Soulmate’. Always a fun night, what else are you doing on a Monday?

Jamali Maddix | The Pub/Zoo | Tue 26 Jan | 7.30pm | £5/3
A testament to XS Malarkey’s promotion of new acts it is not so long ago that Jamali Maddix did an open spot for the venerable club night and now he’s headlining. Which might give hope to those on the supporting bill for this evening, especially Chris Kehoe, a man marked out for great things by Manchester comedic veteran Alex Boardman. Since supporting at XS, Maddix has had TV appearances and gathered quite a lot of buzz as a fresh and interesting voice on the UK circuit. Catch him now before it costs you a lot more than a fiver (a three-er for members).

Isy Suttie | The Lowry | Thu 28 Jan | 8pm | £17
Arguably best known as Mark’s love interest Dobbie from ‘Peep Show’ Isy Suttie should really be more recognisable for her stellar work as a comedian and writer, and now she enters the fray with her first book. ‘The Actual One’ is about the difficult period in your late twenties when people start pressuring you into growing up, railing against this with great abandon and trademark wit, Suttie has turned the whole absurd process of ‘growing up’ into this stage show and accompanying book. Surely required viewing for anyone’s who’s starting to get pressured from those around them to settle down.

Tom Stade | The Lowry | Fri 29 & Sat 30 Jan | 8pm | £20
Canadian firebrand Tom Stade brings more mirthful ire to his new touring show ‘You’re Welcome’ once again taking umbridge with some of the more obscure aspects of British life and spinning them into a shouty yarn that gets funnier the closer he gets to boiling point. If you’ve seen any of Stade’s shows in the past this is very much more of the same, which is in no way an insult. Nobody does righteous indignation quite like Stade.
