Fancy feeling a bit more buff when you bounce out of bed in the morning? These tough exercise classes in Manchester are going give you all that – and then some.
1. Spin Factory
Love to cycle really fast, but scared of cars? What could be simpler than an exercise bike, really loud music and loads of sweaty mates. Classes offer excellent value for money in the time / results department.
Daily, Spin Factory. 60 New Bailey Street, Salford M3 5FS. Tel: 0161 850 9899, www.prospin.co.uk
2. Cross Fit at TRAIN
The original TRAIN studio in Castlefield has been such a hit, that the local owners opened a second branch in MediaCity last year. Beginners must take the £30 foundation course but after that they are free to attend any of the multiple daily classes which are different every time. Widely regarded as one of the most challenging exercise regimes on earth, Cross Fit was developed as a fitness programme for special operatives like Navy Seals.
Daily, T1 CASTLEFIELD, 6 Arundel Street, Castlefield, Manchester, M15 4JZ, times and prices, www.trainmanchester.co.uk
3. Rocket Yoga at Yoga Rooms Chorlton
Yoga used to be a chilled out pastime that took place in Britain’s church halls. Not so now, as a new generation of yogis perform wild stunts to rave music, having a great laugh and making new friends as they improve their practice. A new variation called Rocket Yoga has just launched at Chorlton’s Yoga Rooms comprised of dynamic, muscle building sequences which are related to Ashtanga yoga. Rocket Yoga was developed by the Grateful Dead’s private teacher and is said to ‘get you there faster’.
Every Wed, The Yoga Rooms, 83 Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, Manchester M21 8AG, 6.15-7.30pm, £8, www.theyogarooms.co.uk
4. PKBLAST (pictured)
The world-class rugby players who own Pot Kettle Black cafe in the Barton Arcade also run strength and conditioning fitness classes on weekday mornings. Breakfast is included and the name alone gives some indication of the kind of body crunching content attendees can expect. A fun way to make new friends and get your exercise in the bag.
Tue – Thu, Pot Kettle Black, 14, Barton Arcade, Deansgate, Manchester M3 2BW from 6.50am, prices vary, @pkblasters
