Manchester Film Festival is a four-day film programme taking place various venues around Manchester city centre. To celebrate the launch, we’re offering one Manchester Wire reader the chance to win two tickets to see the world premiere of the new The Orb music documentary, Lunar Orbit. The Orb are recognised as one of the planet’s most influential dance acts, crossing boundaries between club and ambient music. Their music often uses samples such as fish sounds or the spoken word, such as in their 1990 single, Little Fluffy Clouds. This new documentary pictures the band today, creating music for their last album in the studio as well as exploring the influences behind some of their most famous records. The film is being screened as part of Manchester Film Festival’s Music Saturday event at the Odeon in the Printworks. It coincides with a new EP, released on Kompact on Friday 4 March, called Alpine.
