Perhaps known primarily to comedy fans as the host of the very popular ‘Comedian’s Comedian’ Podcast Stuart Goldsmith is a very accomplished stand up in his own right and this is his first nationwide tour. Elaborately entitled ‘An Hour’, Goldsmith’s is exactly the time frame of his anecdotal and intellectual style with a great swathe of manic introspection. If you’re familiar with Stu due to ComComPod then he’s well worth seeing live, and if you’re not, go see him anyway and discover your new favourite podcast(er) the wrong way round.

Wednesday is turning into a very popular night for comedy, perhaps it’s something about the loathsome phrase ‘hump day’ that people really need to forget their problems (and the fact they said ‘hump day’) and power on for the next 48 hours til the weekend. One of the most original voices in stand up comedy comes to The Lowry with another first nationwide tour (and another great night of comedy on a Wednesday) this time from Rob Auton. After tackling universal subjects such as ‘yellow’, ‘sky’ and ‘faces’ Auton takes on ‘water’ in ‘The Water Show’ with his usual wash of whimsical introspection and childlike wonder at the many miracles that make up the world. A genius at breaking down the minutae of what we take for granted Auton brings great heart to his material to go with the big laughs.
