Pankhurst in the Park events run from March to May 2016, and include a range of mostly free and creative activities that aim to get the community involved in Alexandra Park. The reference to Pankhurst comes from Alexandra Park’s strong links with the Suffrage Movement as founding member, Emmeline Pankhurst, lived near by.
1. Monoprinting and Zine-Making workshop with Bunny Collective
Fancy making your own magazine, cards, mini-books or prints? Artists from the Bunny Collective show you how at this interactive and fun workshop that you don’t need any experience to take part in. All materials are supplied and there will be tea, coffee and snacks, in this friendly session hosted by artists including Caitlin Hazell and Camilla Frankl-Slater.

2. Caribbean High Tea at Tea Hive
Get into a Caribbean infused High Tea’ party on Saturday 9 April. Head down to Tea Hive in Alexandra Park for a speak-easy style event which includes free food and drink as well as a 3 hour DJ set from Whip drummer and DJ Lil’ Fee (pictured) and DJ Veba.

3. Spring Showdown throughout the park with Bunny Collective
If a daytime art party, complete with talks and opportunities to get creative is more your bag, check out the big Spring Showdown on Saturday 7 May organised by Bunny Collective. This group of international female artists explore ideas of gender, the body, sexuality and technology. Their Pankhurst in the Park programme is focused on the concept of ‘sisterhood’ and includes skills workshops, exhibitions lectures and performances – watch this space for more details.
