Sprawling over six Northern Quarter venues and hosting over 100 live musical performances, A Carefully Planned Festival returns this weekend for a second annual event, showcasing some of the countries best new bands on some of Manchester’s finest stages. Opening the Soup Kitchen stage on Saturday are Manchester prog-psych instrumentalists Plank!, who after the release of their highly acclaimed debut LP and an incredible performance at this year’s Liverpool Psych Festival are on perfect form to open the Festival. They will be joined at Soup Kitchen by brainy-indie Brightonians Tall Ships and the multi-instrumentalist, Juffage. Experience thoughtfully-curated new music at this two-day city takeover.

Sat 20 – Sun 21 Oct, various venues, Northern Quarter, £12.50, 1pm – late, www.wegottickets.com
