Fallow Café’s monthly live literature night Verbose is back this Monday, delivering another instalment of poetry and prose straight from the mouths of the city’s brightest and best. This time they’re joined by guests from The University of Bolton: Anne Caldwell, Simon Holloway and Evan Jones. There’s also some open mic slots available, so get emailing if you’ve got something you need to get off your chest

Game of Thrones Season 6 at Black Dog NWS
Summer may almost be upon us, but winter is coming! It’s the time of year when the world goes crazy for the new series of Game of Thrones. Black Dog NWS has been running a number of events in the run up to Season 6, including catch-up screenings and a quiz, but this is the big boy: The new season premiere. Presented on the bar’s terrace, complete with comfy bean bags, this is the perfect place to get whisked away to Westeros. They’re also promising themed food, and free beer for the best GoT cosplayer.

3D Printing at Central Library
3D printing is likely to be one of the technologies that will define the next decade, but with most consumers priced out the market, there’s precious few chances to get hands-on with a printer. However, on Friday at Central Library, there’s a drop-in session that includes a live demonstration with a printer and discussions of free software packages that can be used to fashion these three-dimensional creations. Booking ahead is essential.

Last Chance to See Mummy’s Boy at International 3
Mummy’s Boy, an exhibition from Liverpool artist Joe Fletcher Orr, draws to a close this Friday. A collaborative project between the artist and his mother, it features work in a variety of media. See our full preview for more details.

Week 53 Festival Opening at The Lowry
Week 53 is an interesting little festival that makes use of spaces usually unavailable to the paying public: Rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, backstage – all turned into unique theatrical spaces. Though most of the events – as detailed in our preview – will set you back a few pennies, there are a couple of freebies available. Running from the very first day of the festival is Katie Paterson’s cosmic Syzygy exhibition, which takes a look at eclipses and other celestial events.
