The festival returns to Castlefield Bowl and the weekend schedule promises to be bigger and better than ever. Running from Thursday evening right through to the dying light of Sunday, there is a huge array of street food, cooking demos and stalls to buy local produce. With all events free to attend, there will also be live music on the main stage for added joie de vivre.

Cat Café’s imminent arrival in the Northern Quarter
The recent popularity in cat cafés sees the Northern Quarter get a branch of its own. For a fee, customers are invited to play with the feline staff members, have a coffee and watch the world go by. The owners say that the psychological and nurturing benefits of hanging out with cats are amazing. I imagine backpacks will be checked on the way out.
Opening June 2016, 103 High Street, Manchester. To follow progress, check out: www.twitter.com and www.facebook.com
Supper club: Chaat Cart at Ancoats Coffee Co.
Hosting its fourth supper club, Ancoats Coffee Co. will be letting local stalwarts Chaat Cart take over the kitchen at the roastery-cafe in Royal Mills. The foodie events have proved to be a hugely popular series, and this evening promises to carry on the fun. The menu has not been disclosed yet, but expect the home-style Indian food to be packed with flavour and punch. The business is a husband and wife team, that infuse their cooking with inspiration from travelling and growing up in India. There are soft drinks to buy on the night, but guests are invited to bring their own booze, allowing for a corkage fee.
Sat 14 May, Ancoats Coffee Co., Unit 9, Royal Mills, 17 Redhill Street, Ancoats, M4 5BA. 7pm, £25. Buy tickets here: www.eventbrite.co.uk
