This evening they have a double bill of Edinburgh previews for your delectation. Avoid watching England at the footer and catch 2015’s winner of ‘English Comedian of the Year’ Brennan Reece as he struggles his way through modern life whereas Kiri Pritchard-McLean is a ‘Hysterical Woman’ in what is sure to be one of the most thought provoking shows at this year’s Fringe. Two of the more abstract comedians in the UK are at XS Malarkey for a double bill of weird, experimental Edinburgh previews. Phil Ellis is making his first non-kids related show for the first time in two years having killed off the very popular ‘Funz and Gamez’ and now hopes to create another beautiful shambles with ‘Alone Together’. Ewins who starred in the second installment of Funz brings his combination of character, stand up and lo-fi technical wizardry in ‘Mat Ewins Will Make You A Star’. A more unique evening your unlikely to see anywhere in the country.

Paul Sinha | Chorlton Irish Club | Fri 1 Jul | 8pm | £12
Perhaps more recognisable in his role as ‘The Sinnerman’ in TV show ‘The Chase’, Paul Sinha is first and foremost a very talented comedian. As on the show he is fiercely intelligent and prides himself on knowing the facts and with the state of the nation as it currently is one would expect Sinha to be touching on the absurdity of the recent referendum and its ramifications. Hopefully he won’t be too embattled by the ludicrous after effects of such a vote and instead will concentrate on his new show ‘Postcards From the Z List’ in which he entertains the notion of what it is to be vaguely recognizable in modern society.

Popular hot dog night with accompanying comedy and music brings us its second summer party at the earlier time of 3pm. Host Ben Tonge introduces the aforementioned Brennan Reece, The Delightful Sausage’s Chris Cantrill and Amy Gledhill and music from the Mason half of Taylor and the Mason. The big draw perhaps though is the ‘2^nd Annual Hot Dog Eating Competition’ with both meat and vegan options for those that think what the world needs is more competitive eating. In a brewery. Later the same day Manchester comedy connoisseurs Group Therapy have a night chock full of the best in alternative comedy. Canadian thought whirlwind and star of numerous panel shows Tony Law is the headliner with Aussie Felicity Ward and Manchester Wire favourite Jack Evans also in support. Phil Ellis hosts what is consistently the best comedy night in the city. Go to it.
