Improvised beats: Anchorsong, Contours, Sleepdebt & Peter Parker at Islington Mill

Islington Mill-based crew Fat Out continue their programme of booking brilliant beat-driven acts, in conjunction with promoters Red Brick and the fiercely independent This City Is Ours label/club night. Anchorsong, aka Masaaki Yoshida, has a global reputation for improvised live performance, building up layers in front of the crowd using his MPC sampler and keyboard. Contours, Cumbrian native but Manc resident, pumps out dreamy, percussion based beats with a soulful swerve. Sleepdebt’s gorgeously downtempo Gravity EP will form part of this, his debut live set, preceding a hip-hop DJ set later on. DJ support comes from turntablist Peter Parker, of legendary Manchester trio Fingathing, and This City Is Ours residents. Expect mind-expanding hip-hop, beats, bass and more.
