Win tickets: Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair at Old Granada Studios

The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair returns to Old Granada Studios this October. Spread over four days, this year’s showcase of the UK’s finest makers includes textiles, ceramics and much more alongside demos and masterclasses. Jewellery is a big deal with 50 exhibitors on show while other highlights include hats by Emma Fozard made with felt, leather and wood veneer and Home Front Vintage, which gives a new lease of life to damaged military silk ‘escape and evasion’ maps by upcycling them into cushions, lampshades, bow ties and more. Chris Turrell-Watts’ simple yet distinctive ceramic animals (pictured) make perfect gifts, while David Cemmick’s creations includes bronze hares and owls. With a focus on affordable pieces and names to watch, Studio 6 has been given over to up-and-coming talent and recent graduates work. The ‘Ornament’ section is a must-visit too, with collectible, museum-quality work by leading artists like Ashraf Hanna (glass and ceramics) and Vicki Ambery-Smith famous rings inspired by architecture on display. Craft fans are advised to book in advance for workshops like dragon fly sculpture-making with Juliette Hamilton (Fri 7 Oct, 10-11am / 11.30am-12.30pm, 1 hour, £15, tickets) and dry point etching with print-maker Lucy Gell (image pictured, Fri 7 Oct, 2-3.30pm, £15, tickets).
