An exhibition of work from one of the most influential artists to emerge from the American post-war era is to be exhibited at the Whitworth from November. The Artist Rooms collection holds 232 works by Andy Warhol, the artist who dissected the detritus of capitalism and regurgitated its iconic imagery through his work in a semi-critique, semi-admiration of the American Dream. Drawing from this collection, and opening just days after the US presidential election, this show is an overview of Warhol’s work from 1962 until his death in 1987, covering media such as: paintings, prints, posters, photography and films and including key works such as: Dollar Sign (1981), Camouflage (1986) and Gun (1981).
