Fiesta Bombarda bring carnival stylings to club settings, and have pretty much the perfect headliner in Chicago brothers Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. As much hip hop as they are jazz, the eight sons of trumpeter Phil Cohran have collaborated with the like of Mos Def, Wu Tang, Prince and De La Soul, and also played a prominent role on the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach. Their powerful track ‘War’ recently underwent something of a resurrection with its use on the soundtrack of The Hunger Games. Local 8 piece fusion monsters Pareidolia celebrate the release of their debut EP on the night too, and I’ll be selecting a few summery bits to warm up the vibe.
