Changing the Landscape is a new visual arts installation by British artist Sarah Logan at Manchester Central Library. The exhibition is a deeply personal and thought-provoking exploration into the physical and mental repercussions brought on by the Battle of the Somme in 1916, exactly 100 years ago. The collection is inspired by the first hand account of WWI by Logan’s great uncle; soldier Barney Griew. Twelve tables are displayed that include items and text from her uncle’s archives with Logan’s artwork in response to his experiences. The installation aims to archive the contemporary work, while at the same time modernise the historical material.
