The hand-built Pilcrow Pub in Sadler’s Yard opened in September and its intriguing fusion of the old and the new, the traditional with the progressive feels just right when it comes to cosy Autumn days and nights in Manchester. This distinctive, modern pub has been built entirely by hand, using traditional techniques and it’s being run by two of the city’s leading lights in the world of Mancunian booze: Jonny Heyes, founder of Common bar, Beagle, IMBC and the Port Street Beer House, and Paul Jones of leading Manchester brewery, CloudWater. The beer selection includes Cloudwater finest alongside examples from North West’s best breweries and beyond. Plus it’s completely free to sign up for a Locals card which guarantees you 10% off all drinks, at all times. Situated close to Victoria Station for those wanting to squeeze in that extra pint before the commute home, as well as offering gig goers at the Manchester Arena a more homely meeting point than the neighbouring Printworks, Pilcrow also do food. Fresh sandwiches made with bread from Piccadilly’s Pollen are served, alongside coffee from local roasters, Heart and Graft and treats from Blawd.co who furnish Common with their doughnuts packed with anything from rhubarb and custard to salted caramel.
