Follow superstar drag queen Panti Bliss in her mission for marriage equality for same sex couples in Ireland at the free screening of award winning documentary The Queen of Ireland (Dir. Conor Horgan, 2015). It was critically-acclaimed upon release and went on to win the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the 2016 Image & Nation Film Festival. National treasure Panti, Ireland’s foremost drag queen, has been campaigning for gay rights since the 1990’s, and the film tells her story in the lead up to the historic referendum for same sex couples marriage in 2015. It’s a behind-the-scenes insight into Panti’s life, her determination for equality and love for the LGBT community in Ireland. Upon release the documentary broke the record for an opening weekend for an Irish documentary. A post-screening discussion with special guests will follow the feature.
