Late April Bank Holiday Sunday is the perfect pre-summer evening for the return of La mighty Discothèque. Fresh from the recording of their fourth album (due out in summer), Hercules & Love Affair bring their retro-futuristic performance to the Albert Hall. One of the greatest disco voices around, Jocelyn Brown, will be returning to the venue to root the event firmly in authentic discotheque vibes. Nicky Siano pioneered dance music in the early 1970s, overseeing The Gallery in Manhattan, a club which inspired The Garage and Studio 54 (where he would later become a resident). It’s no exaggeration to say he inspired and launched the careers of Grace Jones, D.C. La Rue, Loleatta Holloway, Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles – he’ll be flying in specially for the occasion. Reel-to-reel don and all-round nice guy Greg Wilson is also back after playing the launch party last year, and is joined by another lovely bloke in the form of The Reflex, whose Revisions use only original elements from songs to create elongated new versions of long established floor fillers. Luv Dancin’ complete the main room line up, and in the VIP Bell Tower Stevie Wonderland are bringing Gideön (from Glastonbury’s Homo Disco), Red Greg, Jonny X and Stevie residents. No need to book Monday off.

Sun 30 Apr, Albert Hall, 27 Peters Street, Manchester M2 5QR. Tel 0844 858 8521, from £26.50, www.alberthall.seetickets.com
