Salfordian sister venue of the Castle Hotel, The Eagle Inn is about to get a hit of Scottish-flavoured earmilk. Champion of epic lo-fi and fresh after a three-year break, Edinburgh’s Neil Pennycook links up with his band Meursault again to produce the hazy, majestic melodies you can hear in latest album I Will Kill Again, released by Scottish label Song, By Toad. Glasgow-based labelmates Lush Purr join them to deliver their brand of fuzzy psychedelia and lo-fi pop, with a sound that evokes The Beta Band and Beck. To bring a little Mancunian touch to the evening, local one-man folktronica project KITS (aka Jayson Turner) combines a myriad of synth-driven, delicate textures to tell his tales via heartbreak-fuelled vocals. Expect an evening of gorgeous melodies in this intimate venue.
Thu 11 May, The Eagle Inn, 18-19 Collier Street, Salford, M3 7DW, 7.30 – 11.45pm, £5, www.wegottickets.com
