You might like the sound of a new exhibition at Central Library that explores the way we talk. Manchester Voices is an interactive exhibition in which you can hear voices chatting about identity, all intoned with Greater Manchester’s abundant accents and dialects. Sociolinguists at Manchester Metropolitan University toured the region in an Accent Van, recording people as they went. Alongside the resulting audio and video clips, the exhibition includes interactive maps, research stories and a chance to add your own delectable twang. Don’t miss the free launch event, including a wine reception and dialect poetry, on Thursday 22 June (5pm-8pm): book now using the link below.
