Stewart Lee | The Lowry | Mon 22 – Thu 25 May | 8pm | £25.50
Though he’s doing four shows in a row at The Lowry there are still only a precious few tickets available for this latest show from Stewart Lee. Reasonably priced for one of the most in demand comedians in the country, especially when he delivers a feature film’s length of material for ‘Content Provider’, his first full show since the award winning ‘Carpet Remnant World’. The world is more doomed than ever but it’s comforting to know we’ll have Stewart Lee to begrudgingly guide us through the hellfire.

A Cabaret for Tavare | The Comedy Store | Tue 23 May | 7.30pm | £18/13/9
Although it may look all fun and games to be a travelling comedian the problem is that when you can’t work, you can’t earn, a tragedy befallen to one of the most endearing acts on the circuit in Jim Tavare. After an injury left him in critical condition a bunch of good friends and great comedians pulled together to help raise money for his care and to get him back on his feet. MC’d by Joe Lycett, and with an astonishing line up of John Thomson, Jo Caulfield, Alun Cochrane, Mick Ferry and Tom Wrigglesworth this is a cause well worth supporting.

Bilal Zafar | The Lowry | Sun 28 May | 8pm | £12/10
Nominated for best newcomer at The Fringe in 2016 Bilal Zafar tells the story of how he set up a fictional ‘Muslim only’ cake shop in Bristol and subsequently entered a twitter hellstorm in his debut show ‘Cakes’. A measured and insightful storyteller Zafar has gained a raft of critical raves and also a number of hate-filled followers up to and including EDL supporters, the Daily Star and Katie Hopkins. His troll baiting all feeds into the hilarity and absurdity of this debut show. Well worth checking out before he heads to Edinburgh with the follow up show ‘Biscuits’.
