This week: RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park

Urban gardens will be the theme of this year’s Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show – and Manchester Wire has two tickets up for grabs. The 2017 RHS show at Tatton Park features creative ways to make cities healthier by greening-up grey spaces. Bus stops will be transformed by local communities into a 25-metre long planted streetscape. Sponsors Bruntwood will scientifically monitor a garden of resilient plants, and watch out for the hidden cinema screen in the futuristic Live Garden. The show will also offer ways to tackle urban flooding, as well as ideas to bring life to small spaces. For those with a green conscience, a South American-themed garden will showcase an aquaponics system in which fish waste is used for sustainable plant growth. And it’s not just flowers – there’s even a butterfly dome! Organisers say 90 per cent of us feel better being in a garden – and you’ll feel 100 per cent better if you win tickets.
