Vintage Fair at Manchester Cathedral
This Friday and Saturday, Manchester Cathedral is being taken over by vintage vendors offering up the best in retro clothing. There’s also a pop-up café and bar serving up tea, cake and gin. See our full preview for more information.

Levenshulme Beer, Gin and Food Festival at The Klondyke Club (pictured)
More gin and cake be enjoyed all through this bank holiday weekend at Levenshulme’s Klondyke Club. For four days, the clubhouse plays host to this beer, gin and food festival organised by the minds behind the monthly markets near Levenshulme train station. Confirmed vendors include Mio, who’ll be serving up wood-fired pizzas, Malay street food courtesy of Nasi Lemak and free range pulled-pork specialists The Pulled Swine. There’s also still places left for haute cuisine courtesy of the Klondine Dining Club. As well as plenty of food and booze, there will also be live entertainment through the weekend, including a performance from self-described ‘burlesque fitness instructor’ Coco Love.

Biological Hermeneutics at Chetham’s Library
The historical Chetham’s Library is running another of their Biological Hermeutics workshops this Saturday, and it’s open to families. Biological hermeneutics is the study of the living organisms residing within the pages of old texts: What they can can tell us about the text and about the period they come from. These interactive workshops invite participants to scour the old library for microbiological samples, which can then be cultivated and taken home. So if you’ve got a young scientist at home over the age of seven, one of these sessions would be a great choice for them this weekend.

SpinFest at The Oast House
Ride into the bank holiday this Sunday at Spinningfields’ The Oast House, who are putting on a day-long music festival. SpinFest features a packed roster of live acts playing the venue’s outdoor stage, including Crewe-based singer-songwriter Oli Ng, funk outfit the Robert Mathers Band and local favourite covers band The Revs. Acoustic act Jack Buckley provides the links between acts in this nine-hour music marathon.
